Copyright Notice NOTICE: Before reprinting any materials found at JeannieBottleReview.com, please read this entire page, then e-mail me and request permission. I periodically search the web for sites which may be using my materials without permission. If you know of any site or individual that you think may be stealing content from JeannieBottleReview.com, please report it copyrights@jeanniebottlereview.com. 1. Copyright Copyright applies to any original material, published or unpublished, created by anyone. Under United States (and international) law, you have a right to the work which you have created, be it a work of authorship, photography, musical composition, etc. JeannieBottleReview.com claims that right for its webpage(s). 2. Filing for Copyright Protection Contrary to a common misconception, filing for copyright protection is not a requirement to obtain a copyright. As stated above, all original works are inherently the property of their author(s). JeannieBottleReview.com has nonetheless filed for copyright protection and will act to guard its interests. 3. Fair Use Some webmasters erroneously believe that they may use any content, regardless of copyright, provided they cite their source. This is far from the truth. The concept of Fair Use is described in Section 110 (5) of the Copyright Act of 1976 and states that work may be reprinted without permission only when brief passages are used for journalistic, editorial, scholastic, and similar purposes, and only if the source is properly cited. Simply put: if you do not cite your source, you are stealing. If you do cite your source, you still may exceed the limits of fair use. 4. Original Material at JeannieBottleReview.com Most of the content found at JeannieBottleReview.com is original material. Some is not. If you consider reprinting any material found at this site, please make sure you understand which is which. My copyrighted material includes, but is not limited to: Site Introduction, Reviews, FAQ, Hajji’s History of the Bottle, Episode Guide, Cast Biographies, About Hajji, Jeannie Bottle Painting Guides, Menus, Page Banners, Animations, Wallpapers, Character Profiles, Special Features, Site Layouts, Award Graphics etc. Some materials seem to fall into a gray area regarding copyright. For instance, "The Genie (Djinni) Journal" is a part of the copyrighted I Dream of Jeannie television show. The JeannieBottleReview.com content of The Genie (Djinni) Journal, however, is original work and is therefore my property. Similar reasoning applies to the episode guide, and others. While the original concepts remain property of the owners, my interpretations remain my own. Any site may publish its own renditions, but format and grammatical interpretations create differences between each. Materials to which JeannieBottleReview.com does not own the copyright are scripts, the Jeannie Curlz and Comic Sans MS fonts, visitor submissions, Hajji’s History section display advertisements, etc. JeannieBottleReview.com makes every effort to obtain the permission of the copyright owner prior using any materials. However, because of the nature of a fan site dedicated to a copyrighted television show, some copyrighted material may possibly become posted on JeannieBottleReview.com unintentionally. Many photographs which have propagated throughout the internet are impossible to trace to their original owners. Much of what has been published has essentially become part of the public domain. And finally, we assume that corporate copyright holders such as SONY are willing to lend portions of their material due to the publicity gained through active fan sites. All material at JeannieBottleReview.com is posted in good faith. If you feel that anything on this site belongs to you and that there is a copyright violation e-mail copyrights@jeanniebottlereview.com please provide the URL and a description of the element you feel is in violation as well as proof that you are the Copyright holder. The element will be removed pending further investigation. If you fail to substantiate proof of ownership or make unfounded claims a public notice will be posted to that effect. Some elements of this site are provided by third parties who retain copyright to their work. Where possible those copyrights and licenses are noted next to the element or within the code utilized. 5. Artist Works All artist’s work reviewed on this site is the creative property of each respective artist and as such is protected under the copyright laws of the United States of America and may not be reproduced or used for commercial purposes without the artist’s consent. Further, all images contained on this web site are digitally encrypted with copyright information and any infringement of that copyright will be vigorously pursued. 6. FINAL NOTES I put a great deal of time and effort into producing the JeannieBottleReview.com, which I offer as a free community resource. I expect all visitors to abide by copyright law. Once again, JeannieBottleReview.com employs several means to monitor the Internet for sites which may be using my work without permission. Appropriate action will be taken against any sites which violate my copyright. If you are interested in reprinting my work, just e-mail me and I will consider granting permission. Copyright law allows content creators to maintain a reasonable control of their work, without which many might be discouraged from bothering at all. Please support and respect those who created I Dream of Jeannie, and those who continue to try to keep it alive. Thanks for reading.
